Ethical Strategies for Dealing with Difficult Clients *Class by Webinar*

Description: This interactive course will advise lawyers about how to handle a challenging client while complying with the ethics rules. The course will consider a variety of scenarios in which a client can make the representation difficult, including:
• When a client makes unreasonable demands • When a client repeatedly chooses to ignore the lawyer’s legal advice • When a client fails to meet financial and other obligations to his/her lawyer • When a client fails to comply with court or other legal obligations.
Hypotheticals will be used to explore these situations, and faculty will discuss the ethics rules involved, including scope of representation, communication, confidentiality, conflicts, candor to tribunal, and fairness to opposing party and counsel.
