Description: This timely and informative class will focus on helping those who attend gain a better understanding of the D.C. paid sick time law, the broader national legal landscape around paid sick time, the fundamental building blocks of paid sick time laws, and examples of emergency paid sick time measures related to COVID-19.Among the topics our knowledgeable and experienced faculty will discuss are:
 
  • The national paid sick time landscape
  • The main provisions of permanent paid sick time laws
  • An overview of D.C.’s paid sick time law & D.C.-specific emergency COVID-19 measures 
  • Enforcement of D.C.'s paid sick time law
  • The federal emergency paid sick time law (e.g.., relevant portions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and any potential new federal law) and its interaction with D.C. law
  • Other examples of state emergency laws (e.g., N.Y.).
While this class will be of particular interest to those who engage in labor and employment matters, others will find it of interest in these evolving and challenging times.
