Description: Defamation law has never been more relevant than in this political climate.  Our expert faculty will cover the law of defamation as well as common defenses to a defamation actions, such as the Anti-SLAPP statutes.  In addition, they will offer practical advice to help your clients fight online attacks such as:

  • How to file “John Doe” lawsuits to identify anonymous attackers
  • The use of demand letters to have negative posts removed
  • How a corporate entity sues and proves damages from defamatory conduct
  • Steps to take if a competitor is spreading false information.

Our knowledgeable panel will also cover the basics of how the First Amendment fits into defamation law and the limits of a First Amendment defense in civil litigation.
