Description: This informative class provides an intensive introduction to the key legal concepts in the laws governing pension, welfare, and group health plans, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Internal Revenue Code.  This class is designed for beginning benefits lawyers or any practitioner who wants a practical understanding of employee benefits law.  Our experienced faculty will discuss assorted topics, including:

  • An introduction to ERISA
  • Minimum standards and plan design
  • Problems in Plan Administration (Including divorce orders, military service, and discrimination testing
  • Fiduciary responsibility and participant rights
