Basic Training & Beyond April 2021 (Day 2)

The program is for lawyers who want to know about the methods and skills necessary for starting and growing a solo or small firm practice and who want to participate actively in the learning experience. This interactive program consists of two full–day sessions.

Day One: How to Start a Law Firm—All you need to know to get an office up and going in the District of Columbia. This segment of the program focuses on the skills, tools, and rules plus planning issues.

Day Two: How to Grow a Law Firm—Marketing, problem solving, understanding clients, and practical technology.

The program sessions can be taken at any time and in any order. However, it is recommended that the sessions be taken sequentially in the same month.

Daniel Mills,

Daniel M. Mills, Esq. is the assistant director of the Practice Management Advisory Service of the D.C. Bar. Dan helps lawyers with the business of their law office. He is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia. Dan co-leads Basic Training & Beyond, a two-day, monthly, free program for small firm lawyers in the District. The program received the ABA’s Gambrell Award for Professionalism in 2011. He co-leads the annual multi-session Successful Small Firm Practice Course, an in depth eight-part exploration of starting and growing a small firm. The Course received the Gambrell Award in 2015. Mr. Mills shares presentation of these programs with Rochelle D. Washington, senior staff attorney in the Practice Management Advisory Service.
