As Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) grow in popularity, we are seeing these accounts become a key component of a holistic financial plan; yet, many working Americans do not fully understand the capabilities of these accounts and are therefore failing to leverage the extent of the benefits available to them. This workshop outlines the key benefits of saving in an HSA and how you can incorporate this investment vehicle into your financial plan. We’ll review the differences between an HSA and a flexible spending account (FSA), who is eligible to save in an HSA, the pros and cons of saving in an HSA, and how you can leverage your HSA for income during retirement. We’ll also discuss the value of retirement accounts and the differences between and the benefits of contributing to both your retirement account(s) and HSA if you are eligible and have the financial power to do so.
