Legal Issues in Creating and Managing an Advocacy Campaign 2019 *Class by Webinar*

Description: During this class, our experienced and knowledgeable faculty will address the myriad legal issues posed by the creation and management of an advocacy campaign. They will explore the statutory and regulatory constraints on the development and implementation of a campaign to influence public policy, whether by a trade association, labor union, charitable organization, or business. The faculty will focus on the three pillars of an effective campaign—public education, lobbying, and political support—and will explore the organizational structures to be created (political committees and 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 527 organizations); the activities in which each can engage; and the regulatory compliance obligations that each type of organization must satisfy.
