Title IX Enforcement: A View from the Trenches *Class by Webinar*

Date(s):
November 27, 2018
Description:
Credit: 3.0 Credit Hours

Description: Title IX enforcement on college and university campuses has exploded in the last several years, with many colleges and universities taking on investigative roles that few of them ever anticipated. Attorneys for students often find themselves at a loss to understand this new regime, where you can’t issue subpoenas, can’t cross-examine witnesses, and usually have to sit silently during a hearing. How do schools investigate these cases? How should attorneys for complainants and respondents navigate this complex regime? This course, which will focus more on practical advice than legal theory, will bring together experienced attorneys who have experience with all sides of these cases and help answer these questions. The program will include a discussion of the new regulations proposed by the Trump administration on November 16, 2018, and what effect they might have on campus cases if they become law.
